The collaborative journey of Dr. Pronoy Baidya, Dr. Shamik Roy, and Jalmesh Karapurkar culminated in the publication of their research paper in Ecological Applications by the Ecological Society. Their fieldwork included summiting Kanamo (6000m), cooking for 13,000 people, and immersing themselves in Kibber’s traditional family life. Their study reveals that the loss of native grazers due to livestock expansion significantly impacts arthropod communities, which can alter ecosystem structure and function, and influence the risks and management of vector-borne diseases.

Study highlights the ecological impact of replacing native grazers with livestock, affecting arthropod communities and potentially altering ecosystem dynamics and disease management.
