As part of Wildlife Week 2026, the Goa Forest Department and the Goa Forest Development Corporation organised an engaging bird walk and expert session at Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, Goa, to promote awareness and appreciation of the region’s avian diversity.

Sagar Naik from Arannya Environment Research Organisation (AERO) served as the Resource Person, guiding participants through the fascinating world of birds. The session provided an opportunity to observe birds in their natural habitats, learn about their identification, and understand their ecological significance.

The bird walk encouraged participants to develop their observation skills and appreciate the diversity of birdlife found in Goa. It also highlighted the important role birds play in maintaining healthy ecosystems through functions such as seed dispersal, pollination, and natural pest control.

Through this initiative, participants gained a deeper understanding of the importance of bird conservation and habitat protection. The session reinforced the value of experiential learning in fostering environmental awareness and encouraging responsible attitudes towards wildlife.

AERO’s participation in Wildlife Week 2026 reflects its continued commitment to environmental education, biodiversity awareness, and conservation through meaningful engagement with communities and nature enthusiasts.
