The workshop, meticulously organised by the Department of Zoology in collaboration with the esteemed Arannya Environment Research Organisation, was dedicated to exploring the critical theme of Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG12): Responsible consumption and production. This initiative aimed to empower students by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and tools to make informed consumer choices that not only reduce waste but also actively support sustainable practices in their daily lives. Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in a variety of interactive sessions that encouraged them to critically assess their consumption habits and understand the broader implications of their choices on the environment.

Expert speakers from both the Department of Zoology and Arannya provided valuable insights into the principles of sustainable consumption, emphasizing the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling materials to minimize environmental impact. The workshop also included practical activities, such as group discussions and case studies, where students analyzed real-world scenarios related to waste management and sustainable production methods. These hands-on experiences were designed to foster a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between consumer behavior and environmental sustainability.

Moreover, the workshop highlighted innovative approaches to responsible consumption, such as the promotion of local products, the benefits of choosing eco-friendly alternatives, and the significance of supporting businesses that prioritize sustainability. Participants were encouraged to think critically about the lifecycle of products they consume, from production to disposal, and to consider how their choices can contribute to a more sustainable future. By the end of the workshop, students left with a renewed sense of responsibility and a toolkit of strategies to implement in their own lives, ultimately aiming to inspire a ripple effect of sustainable practices within their communities.

We are thankful to @harshada.gauns and @_shivc_ for engaging the workshop.
