AERO Highlights the Role of Birds in Maintaining Healthy Forest Ecosystems on Van Mahotsav Day
On the occasion of Van Mahotsav, Dr. Pronoy Baidya from Arannya Environment Research Organisation (AERO) conducted an insightful session titled “Birds for a Healthy Forest,” highlighting the ecological importance of birds in maintaining healthy and balanced forest ecosystems.
The session explored the vital roles birds play in nature, including seed dispersal, pollination, and natural pest control. These ecological functions contribute to forest regeneration, plant diversity, and the overall health and resilience of ecosystems.
The discussion emphasised that forests are not merely collections of trees but complex ecosystems sustained by the interactions between diverse forms of life. Birds, in particular, serve as important contributors to these natural processes, making their conservation essential for maintaining ecological balance.
The session reinforced the importance of protecting both forest habitats and the wildlife they support. By promoting awareness of the interconnectedness of nature, AERO continues to encourage greater appreciation for biodiversity and responsible environmental stewardship.
